ROBERT HARVEY
LEXINGTON,
N.C.., EE.UU 1924
PRIMAVERAS
version Español
Images of figures, flowers, artifacts, caught in a flash of time.
Much of Robert Harvey´s work carries with it the elements of photoralism. But what the painter brings to his work after
the initial revelation of form and color is a beguiling invitacion to let the imaganition do what it does best -
-wonder - .
We are nudged to discover what truth lies under the shadowed brim or behind that draped figure, what important bit
of knowledge resides in that dark brown void behind a table with its shadowy artifacts, what a group of flowers subtley illuminated from the side
conceal in their shadow, or what essence is to be found behind the starkly lit window with its sharp shadows?
This quality of mystery infuses Harvey´s work with what one revier has called a sense of presence.
The fact that the quality of mystery is indelibly linked to the spirtual is of no surprise to the artist. In all my
work, Harvey says, I look for something spiritual.
